- Really, really helpful tool
- I use it in Safari on my laptop, iPhone and iPad
- I’m amazed at how many details it can extract from each page; very handy
- Templates that can be automatically used based on the URL are great
Syncing settings across devices
The only annoyance atm is needing to export settings after updating + import them on my other devices because those extension settings do not sync on their own.
Here’s how I’ve been syncing them manually after an update:
- Make updates on one device (I usually opt for laptop if convenient)
- On the “General” page of the web clipper settings, click “Export” next to “Export all settings” (near the bottom of the page)
- Choose Airdrop
- Choose the other device (usually my phone)
- Accept the Airdrop
- Copy the json file via the Share Sheet
- Go to the web clipper settings (Safari -> 🧩 > Obsidian Web Clipper -> ⚙️)
- On the “General” page, click “Import” next to “Import all settings”
- Paste what’s in your clipboard in the “Or paste content below” textarea
- Click “Import”, then “OK”
