By default, all GitHub notifications are sent to your primary email address

You can add as many secondary email addresses as you like

You can route notifications to different email addresses based on which organization owns the repo the notification relates to

This is great for separating work and personal notifications (especially if you’re going on vacation or a longer break like parental leave)

How to set up custom routing:

Go to your GitHub Notification Settings

Under “Default notifications email”, click “Custom routing”

On the “Custom routing” page, click “Add new route”

Choose the organization you want to route notifications for and the email address you want to route them to

Done!

You can add as many routes as you like

This only works if you are a member of other organizations

Your primary email address will continue to be used for notifications from your own repos and from any organizations you haven’t set up a custom route for
